“China is our source of innovation and driving force,” said Jean-Pascal Tricoire, Chairman of Schneider Electric, at the 37th International Business Leaders’ Advisory Council for the Mayor of Shanghai on Oct.,12.
Schneider Electric has been operating in China for 38 years. “China is not only Schneider Electric’s second-largest market globally but also one of its four major global R&D bases. It is our source of innovation and driving force,” Tricoire emphasized.
He highlighted the unique value of Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta as the epitome of China’s innovation advantage. “Shanghai is one of the few cities in the world with a blend of technology, industry, talent, and international connectivity. The industrial ecosystem of the Yangtze River Delta is truly unique.” He sees Shanghai not only as a “testing ground” for technology implementation but also as a “bridgehead” for global cooperation, linking multinational companies with the Chinese market and global resources.
Schneider Electric’s innovations from China have reached the global stage. Tricoire attributed this to two reasons: China’s vast market provides fertile ground for “scalable validation” of technology, and its diverse, multi-tiered development landscape ensures solutions developed in China are highly relevant to other emerging economies.
Tricoire expressed strong confidence in the company’s future in China, citing the country’s leadership in two critical energy revolutions: the “demand-side revolution,” where China is actively promoting electrification, and the “supply-side revolution,” with accelerating shifts toward green, low-carbon power generation. In this process, Schneider Electric’s core role is to bridge energy demand and supply transformation with its end-to-end systems, providing solid technological support for China’s energy transition.
